I guess I don’t have to apologise for making the assumption as I would normally “have” to with other US Americans who have this strange adversity to all that is French because you are an Actualist and you’re not allowed to be offended

I’d say the US is basically split politically between patriot-type righties who abhor everything European, and democrat/lefties who think Europe is a utopia and that we just need to do everything like them (if only we could get rid of these rednecks…)

Here it’s better to replace pelotudos with something less offensive: “giles” (“stupids”, “idiots” but milder) is something an Argentinian would typically use to communicate the opponent’s infantilism at even imagining they could win.
This “e” reveals how the Portuguese is taking root!

Haha indeed! I said once to my Mexican sister-in-law something jokingly like: “el taco mucho grande” And she was like “… you’re kidding right?” and i was (as in just saying something I thought was funny)… but after some awkward exchanges I realized that I had forgotten in Spanish there’s both “muy” and “mucho” where in Portuguese it’s only “muito” …

Quería que gane la selección por como su éxito conmueve a un pueblo con el cual me identifico. Porque quiero que sean felices.

Me gustó mucho el partido (quedó segundo en mi lista de mejores finales, luego de la del 86), pero no me contagió ninguna vibra. En todo caso más bien lo contrario (ya que pasó todo, comparto esta respuesta privada a @son_of_bob que me había preguntado antes del partido con Croacia si “Argentina will beat Croatia? Is it finally Messi’s time?”)
Así que al final disfruté a Messi y emocionalmente me gustó que se le diera a él antes de retirarse, pero admito que volví a sentir emociones mas negativas ante actitudes agresivas como las de Martínez con el guante, el racismo de los cantos en los medios o el descontrol instintivo en Argentina (ademas de que en Once y el centro no se aguanta el olor a meo desde ayer, las agresiones y desmanes fueron enormes -un comerciante por ejemplo murio de un infarto discutiendo con quienes estaban vandalizando su heladeria-).
No solo ya no puedo hinchar por un club o por Argentina (como imposibilidad real, digo; no como imposibilidad moral), sino que casi únicamente puedo percibir estos eventos como más evidencia de todo lo negativo que en última instancia pueden generar las emociones humanas.

Es bueno leer todo eso, porque estás mejor ubicado para observar lo peor de todo esto. Acá y creo que en otros lugares donde hay una comunidad migrante de argentinos, suele haber mas alegria, abrazos y cosas asi, bastante “harmless” incluso se vio mucha amistad entre los Indios, bangladesíes (de los cuales hay montones en este país y que sufren mucha discriminación) y argentinos.
Pero así son las pasiones instintivas eh? Nurture, desire, malice and sorrow. Y un evento como este hizo brotar a todos estos.
Para concluir, recalco que ver argentina levantar la copa, era una de aquellas cosas que no me dejaban en paz. Suena inmadurisimo y como por suerte no siento ya mas nada de orgullo para sentirme mal o ofendido, se que lo es, pero así es la cosa.
Yo gracias a mi viejo que ni es argentino, siempre fui muy futbolero. Siempre fue una salida, una forma de sentir mi cuerpo y gozar de todas las sensaciones que te da, de revitalizarme después de tanta “realidad”.
Y el fútbol argentino, no solo su folclore pero su forma de jugar me encanta. Para mi esta final era un duelo entre el fútbol mecanizado industrializado europeo y el fútbol más suelto y sensual sudamericano. Me sorprende que te atrae más el estilo de los equipos europeos. Podrías elaborar más en este aspecto?
También me interesa saber sobre lo que pensás de la situación actual del país (político,económico etc.)

Hey guys, I felt like asking what do you do when you feel like a ‘bad actualist’. To be honest this whole theme we’ve been discussing here has given me that feeling. It is subtle, as emotions (apart from the World Cup) have been waning exponentially the past few years, but it is still there. Like I’m a bad boy, I should not have been excited about this etc.
I know it’s been discussed ad nauseum here but I think it is one of those things that is always good to go over as it is a stumbling block for many. What pops into your mind when I ask the question? Of course it is silly to feel bad for such (or any) a reason. Every second is a new opportunity to move on and get sensuous, but yeah, would be cool to read different perspectives.
I’ve always been a ‘bad’ insert ism here. I’ve been a bad Afghan, Argentine, Australian, Trotskyite, Marxist Leninist, Anarcho-syndicalist, Maoist, Muslim, Catholic, Mystic you name it hahaha and now I’m a woeful actualist (albeit I reckon one that is making progress all the time).
It’s been one heck of a kaleidoscopic path.
Ultimately I feel that being so ‘bad’ at adhering to any given ‘ism’ has been beneficial in the long run. I wonder if being a bad actualist, and the naivete I sense in me vis a vis other more ‘heady’ and ‘serious’ types I see, is a ‘good’ thing?
