Then it’s worth re-assessing just what “feeling good” (in actualist lingo) means, since lust, being a ‘good’ feeling (and not a feeling good), inherently diminishes / takes away from feeling good.
This is not a moral judgement or a definitional trick – they really are just two different things entirely. The trick with the ‘good’ feelings is that they are seductive, and highly appealing to ‘me’, and as such they lure you in, leading you down the garden path …
It is most obvious, when in a remarkable, astoundingly fantastic mood, just how much lust really diminishes from that.
I woke up today and for lack of a better phrase I found myself on planet earth simple earthly joy of being here , I realise that this is actually all that I want.
So I have been experiencing life in this manner today also, consistently, and I have been wondering “what is this?” And then I realised that it is none other than feeling good (felicitous and innocuous). Which it shows that what I must have done in the past is lumped together a bunch of good feelings (as well as their opposite bad feelings) into what I called “feeling good”.
And it is like the texture of the felicitous and innocuous feelings is indeed an approximation to what is experienced in the PCE, the word “earthly” comes to mind, the felicitous and innocuous feelings are an earthly delight, at being here and doing this business called being alive. They are also very stable, it’s nothing like darting from highs to lows.
Also this “earthly” aspect it means that sensuousness is readily available, it’s part of the package in that sense, it would be hard not to delight in sensuousness when feeling felicitous and innocuous, it’s like all this is here to be delighted in. And it’s even the little things, like the sensation of dirt on my skin etc.
Very cool stuff! It seems this is the doorway to naiveté…
I was beginning to get a sense of this distinction myself, and yes, ‘earthly’ is how I would put it as well. Much less ‘heady’. And it is stable. Not to mention, not dependent on others. This is all better by a mile than lust, which is not to downplay the seductiveness-in-the-moment of the later (and all the ‘good’ feelings in general).
